Up for auction is a wonderful lot of 3 early leather shields that went on fireman's helmets in the old days. These are very old and the leather is crackled, so be sure to enlarge the images, especially the second one. The smaller red one pictured on the right has a brass tag on the back of it that is embossed, cairns bro. All of them are structurally sound, although they are crackled and worn from age and past usage. The color si original and marred in spots. There are some white specks of paint here and there, along with some spots of paint loss and other dings.
Nothing has been touched up or altered ni any way. The only thing i did to these was wipe them off with a soft rag. You can inspect them all by clicking and enlarging all the images below. The 109 shield measures 7 3/4 high.
The 256 black shield measures approximately 5 3/4 high. It has an old piece of wire threaded through it near the top.
The rde 118 shield measures 6 1/8 high. Selling as is becuase they are old and have been used. Sorry about ayn spots of glare from the camera's flash.
