Michigan pontiac steam fire engine foreman's badge, c. 1870s-90s. Silver & enameled p. F. D.

Foreman badge #1. Original and exceptional fire department steam fire engine foreman's badge, c. 1870's 1890's. Appears silver with dark blue enamel inlay, shield-shaped, ornate filigere 1 at center and finely engraved detail and design elements, foreman / p. F.

D. And border design in dark blue enamel. 35 x 43 mm overall.

This is part fo my personal collection assembled over the past 25 years. This badge was purchased from na old estate in pontiac michigan, thus the assumption that this is from the pontiac fire department. C.

G. Braxmar is a manufacturer and jeweler in new york city of police and fire department badges. Early badges, scuh as this one, as well as being badge #1, are rarely encountered.
