P4228 Thermal Imaging Camera W Battery Case Books

This auction features a thermal image camera manufactured in essex england by the light conversion division of eev (english electric valve company). This camera was surplused in april 1994 by the department of national defense in halifax novice scotia (see scanned copy of original surplus valuation). It was purchased at a government surplus auction at the crown assets distribution center in august of 1994. It has been setting in the garage of this purchaser until coming into my possession in october of this year. I have verified this information and can document the series of ownership. This auction includes a complete model number p4228 (serial number 158) thermal image camera, a spare rubber face grommet, one p4428b battery cartridge, one p4428d dummy battery container, one hard carry case made in united kingdom by oakleigh products, two keys for said case, one original instruction manual, two original technical manuals, and oen binder of original schematics.
The camera has been tested and is workign great. I am not able to photograph the thermal images as they are displayed on the camera's monitor but they look great and i have included a scan of one page from the instruction manual that shows yuo what to expect and this is a very accurate representation.
I used hte camera so survey the exterior of my home for its hot spots of energy loss and found it quite an education. I now haev a long list of insulating projects on my to-do list!
Lol. hTe p4228b battery cartridge uses aa batteries for power and it is nice and clean with no corrosion or corruption.
I am uncertain what the purpose of the p4228d dummy battery is? It has a fused pig tail that may be for a voltage converter or altenrative power source? It is also in great shape. hTe whole camera looks great and has no issues operationally or cosmetically. It seems to have seen very little use.
The original case has typical scuffs and scratches from banging around ubt looks and works great. It has a full length piano hinge in back, a leather tpo carry handle, and dual locking latches on the front. All edges are reinforced nad it has 8 anvil corners. Some of the anvil corners have light rust but it is a rugged case with no dings or dents.
The inside has padded inserts to hold the camera securely in place and the top has a compartment for all the manuals. There is a steel cabel lid keeper that prevents the lid from falling all the way open. Case si 17 x 12 x 12. It has the makers tag on the rear and a label on top showing the model and serial number of the camera.
It is obviously original to the camera. The owners manual says the p4228 si a battery operated portable camera which provides thermal pictures viewed on its integral monitor. The equipment has been designed specifically for fire service use, capitalizing on its ability to see through dense smoke.
