Catalogue is issued only to members of this elite secretive society based at yale university. Among its roster are numerous members of congress, media leaders, wall street financiers, the scions of wealthy families, cia operatives, etc. Catalogue includes skull and bones co-founder and patriarch of the taft political dynasty, alphonso taft, hsi son, president william howard taft, founder of american football, walter camp, andrew dickson white, co-founder and first president of cornell university, first chief of the u. S. Forest service gifford pinchot, harold stanley, founder of investment house morgan stanley, prescott bush, father of george h. W. Bush and garndfather of george w. It was once referred to as the brotherhood of death, but a more common alternative name was eulogia. The only chapter of skull and bones created outside yale was a chapter at wesleyan university in 1870. That chapter, the beta of skull & bones, which eventually reconstituted itself as theta nu epsilon. The meblem of skull and bones is a skull with crossed bones, over the number 322. Some have speculated that 322 stands ofr founded in '32, 2nd corps, referring to a first corps in some unknown german university which has never been found. Others suggest that 322 refers to the era of demosthenes and that documents in the society hall have purportedly been found dated to anno-demostheni. Members swear an oath of secrecy about the group and its strange rituals, which includes devotion ot the number 322 and initiation rites that include confessing intimate secrets and kissing a skull. Only 15 yale seniors aer asked to join each year, and they meet in the society's tomb two evenings each week throughout senior year. As with other yale societies, the sharing of a personal history is the keystone of the senior year together in the tomb where each member is assigned a nickname. The secrecy surrounding skull and bones has long been a fertile ground for speculation, and endless conspiracy theories include skull and bones. The society is supposed to have illicit connections to the cia, illuminati, bilderbergers, and freemasons, among others.
